Paint to sounds. Sounds to paint. Bringing together audio and visual artists to inspire each other across their mediums and expression. The final creations were presented in a multi-sensory sound and sight installation with proceeds benefiting musicians and those in the music industry suffering with loss of hearing. 

The parking lot of Toledo’s City Paper was transformed into a space of social interaction for this pop-up art happening in uptown Toledo. The playground was painted white, music played and an ice cream truck arrived. Many visitors asked, “Where’s the art?” as they looked around to see visitors of all ages playing on teeter-totters, jumping rope, dancing, playing four square or drawing on the giant blank sandwich boards and other ‘canvas’ spaces provided. We answered with “Go play, draw and express the art you want to be.” 

What need are we fulfilling in making a purchase and how long will the thirst for consumption be quenched? What is enough? Can we ask our higher selves this simple question before each purchase, “Is this needed?” Those questions were at the heart of a daylong event hosted at SHED in Healdsburg, California, with a pop up zendo hosted by SF Zen Center. The days activities included, periods of zazen, kinhin- walking meditation, a ‘Way of Tea’ class, kids origami area, a flower pilgrimage. With dialogue around conscious consumption and mindfulness in technology. This day of community was created with the collaboration of Nancy Petrin, Marcia Lieberman, Jenny Shears-Teixeira, Sara Lonsdale and Tim Kroll.

A cross-disciplinary two story studio and gallery, home to spaceprojekt and launchsite of spacescent. A space of no rules. All windows. Watch and be watched. Where giver, receiver and gift of the art, fashion and design world existed as one. Promoting and hosting nonprofits, in the encouragement of creating, in kindness, joy, exploration and play. Interdependence. Dropping away from self and allowing for the us to come forth.

With a mission to give the kids living on the streets, outside the San Francisco SPACE gallery/hair salon an opportunity to create art and express themselves. Momentum put cameras into the hands of street youth, giving them free reign to document their experiences and create personal expression. Knowing their lives were transient and the art needed to be instant, Polaroid cameras were chosen. The work was shown at SPACE gallery on polk street, with the exhibit hosted by Norman and Norah Stone. During its three year span, Momentum raised over $100,000 for Larkin Street Youth Project and gained sponsorship by Polaroid and Bulgari. These events gained local and national coverage, including coverage in Surface magazine.
